The QAI Global Institute (formerly known as the Quality Assurance Institute) has for nearly 30 years collected information, trends, and best practices from most of the world’s leading IT and IT enabled companies. Over those 30 years QAI has seen many changes in the roles of the quality assurance analyst, software test engineer, software business analyst, software project manager, and software process engineer. 2009 is projected to be a “watershed” year as world economies change under the pressure of the global marketplace and the roles of IT professionals undergo realignment with new corporate and product focus.

In his presentation, Tom will focus on changes to IT professionals’ roles and specifically to the transformation of the quality assurance analyst. Tom will discuss the relevance of software assurance in the product development life cycle and how software assurance will impact the quality assurance analyst and other disciplines in the SDLC. Tom will use the CBOK’s (common bodies of knowledge) for quality assurance (QABOK), testing (TEBOK), software engineering (SWEBOK), project management ( PMBOK), software BA (SBABOK) and software process engineer (SPEBOK) as a framework for the discussion.

Mr. Thomas Ticknorhas over 25 years of experience in IT software development and quality. He has a wide range of experience including management of product design teams, development teams, software QA and testing departments. Mr. Ticknor has been training and consulting in the field of software testing and quality for the past 10 years.

Mr. Ticknor is a keynote speaker and presenter at testing and quality conferences, software development trade conferences and has spoken both in the U.S. and internationally.

Mr. Ticknor is the Chief Operating Officer for the QAI Global Institute overseeing the daily operations of the Institute’s activities and is President of QAI Canada, Ltd. Before joining QAI, Mr. Ticknor held executive level positions with software development companies in Boston and Orlando.
